What Sizes Do The Current Clamps Come In And What Do They Measure?

FourJaw's MachineLink hardware uses current clamps to monitor the electrical current drawn by your machinery, helping us measure machine activity and energy consumption.

We offer different clamp sizes and adapters to suit a wide range of machinery and electrical configurations.

What sizes of current clamps are available?

FourJaw offers two sizes of current clamps:

  • Standard Current Clamp – 13mm: Suitable for cables up to 13mm in diameter.
  • Large Current Clamp – 23mm: Suitable for larger cables up to 23mm in diameter.

The standard clamps are included with your MachineLink installation kit. Larger clamps are available on request.

What if the current clamps don't fit my machine's cables?

If your machine's cables are too large for the standard 13mm clamps, don't worry!

We can supply larger 23mm current clamps where required.

Simply contact support@fourjaw.com, and our team will help arrange suitable replacement clamps.

Can FourJaw monitor single-phase machinery?

Yes! Single-phase adapters are also available for machines with a single-phase electrical supply.

If your machine uses a single-phase supply, please contact our support team so we can advise on the appropriate setup.

Can FourJaw monitor machines with a DC electrical supply?

Yes, DC adapters are also available where required.

If your machine uses a DC electrical supply, please get in touch with our support team to discuss the installation requirements.

How do I know which current clamps I need?

Before installing your MachineLink, we recommend checking:

  • The outside diameter of the cables where the clamps will be installed.
  • Whether your machine uses a single-phase, three-phase or DC electrical supply.
  • Whether there is sufficient space inside the electrical cabinet to safely fit the clamps.

If you're unsure which clamps or adapters are suitable, our team will be happy to help.

Who should install the current clamps?

Current clamps must be installed by a competent person who can safely work inside electrical cabinets.

Important: Always fully isolate the electrical supply before installation and follow the MachineLink installation guidance.

For detailed instructions, see our Installing the MachineLink guide.
