Adding Notes To Downtime

Let operators record what actually happened, in their own words, alongside the downtime reason.

Operators can now add a free-text note to a downtime directly from the tablet, and those notes come through to your reporting. This article covers adding a note when the downtime is labelled, changing or removing one later, and where notes appear for managers.

Adding a note from the downtime pop-up

When an operator labels a downtime through the alert pop-up, the tablet no longer closes it immediately. It will show a Downtime labelled! confirmation with two options:

  • Add additional notes which opens the notes window.
  • Close (10s) dismisses the confirmation. The pop-up closes by itself when it reaches zero, leaving the downtime labelled but without a note.

After a reason is picked, the operator is offered the chance to add a note before the window closes.

Adding and editing notes from the activity panel

Opening a labelled downtime from the activity panel shows a Notes row in the details. Click Add notes to add a new note to this downtime.

To delete a note, open it using the View link, and click Delete note in the bottom left.

What it looks like in the report

Notes are recorded against the downtime itself, so they follow it into your reporting and into your downtime export as a note column. Downtimes without a note show an empty value.

1 (6)

Notes appear in the downtime reports against the downtime they were added to.

Use notes when you need a bit more context around specific downtimes, so you can act on what's actually causing them and prevent them happening again.
