Downtime Auto Labeller
The Auto Labeller is designed to increase the percentage of labelled downtimes whilst reducing the amount of user input required by operators. It is particularly useful when setting up machinery, at breaks and shift changeovers, and when one operator is running multiple machines.
Interactive Demo
The best way to understand the new Auto Labeller feature is to get hands on - please try the interactive demo below (best if you put it full screen first).
For Machine Setups
When setting up machinery, there can be lots of little downtimes, all of which have the same reason - "Setup". You can avoid labelling each of these downtimes individually by simply turning on the Auto Labeller for the duration of the setup, reducing tablet input and allowing operators to focus.
For Breaks and Changeovers
You can start the Auto Labeller 5 or 10 minutes before a break and set it for the full duration you'll be away from your machine. That way, you can head off for a cuppa immediately when your break starts without any further input needed on the tablet.
The same approach can be applied at a shift changeover - simply start the Auto Labeller with a "Shift Changeover" reason before you leave the factory and it will handle the rest.
For Running Many Machines
When one operator is running multiple machines, it can feel like a juggling act to keep the downtime reasons labelled correctly. To make this easier, simply use the Auto Labeller when stepping away from a machine for an extended period.
Top Tips
Tip 1: The Auto Labeller will work even if the tablet gets powered off.
Tip 2: The Auto Labeller can be started from a desktop computer as well as on the tablet.
Tip 3: The Auto Labeller can be started at any point, regardless if your machine is in uptime or downtime. Uptime will occur as normal but is effectively ignored by the Auto Labeller.
Tablet Interface Upgrades for Downtime
We've made some impactful updates to the tablet user interface to improve the downtime logging experience for machine operators. The main improvements are as follows...
- The Activity Log on the right now changes contents based upon your time selection ("Last 60 Mins", "This Shift" etc.)
- Unlabelled downtimes are clearly highlighted in red, with a large visual counter.
- When downtimes are fully logged, you get a thank you message confirming everything is in order.
Interactive Demo
Get to grips with the changes using this interactive demo (best viewed full screen).
For Reviewing the Shift
These changes make it easy to identify unlabelled downtimes when coming to the end of the current shift, or when looking back at a previous shift. If you like, you can do a quick shift review to make sure all downtimes are labelled and any learnings or continuous improvement actions are recorded.
Communicating to Shop Floor Staff
One of the first steps on the Beta Programme will be to choose a "go live" date when we will switch on these new features for all of your tablets. Ahead of this date, we would encourage you to communicate about the upcoming beta features so your shop floor staff know what to expect.
The features have been designed to be intuitive so you shouldn't need to do any formal training. However, if you're able to show the two interactive demos above to key members of your team, then they will be ready to go when the features are switched on.
Feedback
As these are beta features, we're very keen for your feedback - good or bad we'd like to know! Please feel free to contact Robin who is running the beta programme.
