What do I need to do to start using FourJaw Energy Monitoring?

Find out what you need to do as a current customer or a new customer to start using FourJaw's Energy Monitoring feature.

Fill in Settings

First, you will need to fill in some details within the settings.

To calculate power we need to know about your machines:

  • Is it Three-phase or Single-phase?
  • What is the RMS Line-to-line voltage?
  • What is the power factor of your machine?

We have put in default values, but you can change these to make the system more accurate.

To understand your costs, you need to tell us how much your electricity costs.

We have put in the UK government-approved conversion factor from electrical power to carbon footprint as a default, but you can change that if you would like to.

Sense Check the Data

Next, have a look at the new energy dashboard available in the Monitor Workspace. Look at the data and sense-check it. It may be that you need to move your FourJaw sensor clamps to ensure that energy is being measured as well as productivity. The standard configuration to measure both is to have one clamp around a phase of your main machine power supply and the other around your main servo drive.

If this doesn’t work, please send us a photo of the inside of your machine’s electrical cabinet to support@fourjaw.com and we will help you get set up.

Finally, review the alerts and reports you need on your equipment. There are some default reports already set up, however, you can modify or create new ones depending on your specific requirements.

New Customers

Once you become a FourJaw customer, our team will ask for some details to set up your equipment. They will send the equipment and installation instructions to you and be available to support you as you get it up and running.

Once we have determined the data is coming through properly, using our data validation process, it is time to make sure your energy settings are correct. Enter your energy costs and tell us about the voltage of the machines used.

Next, you can check out the out-of-the-box reports and see if you need any others configured. You can also set up alerts if required.

Finally, take a look at the Energy Dashboard and start to make strategic plans for energy usage reduction.
